For my blogs I want to take a look at how we are constantly
in contact with one another. As time goes on it seems like we get more and more
impatient on how fast we need to accumulate information from each other. Think to
maybe 10 years ago. A lot of people were starting to get cell phones that could
only make phone calls and, some families were equipped with a desktop computer
at home with dial-up internet. At the time this was considered so amazing we
could be in contact with someone so quickly. Now we have Smartphones that are
linked to Facebook and can send text messages that get an almost immediate
response from people. If we went back in time to ten years ago so many people
would probably be depressed at how little communication they can have at all
times. We wouldn't be able to watch movies on demand. God forbid we have to get
off of our butts and put a DVD in a tray to watch a movie. We would rather just
flip out TV over to Netflix and watch a show without getting up. Same way with
talking to someone. We would probably lose our minds now if we had to actually
call someone to communicate with them on our cell PHONE. Phones are no
longer used for physical conversations. Instead we get information overload
from constant text messages, emails, twitter updates, facebook posts, news alerts,
etc. We get so much information from a tiny screen that we carry around in our
pockets that we can hardly see the physical world around us. In this clip from
Robin Williams' stand up he gives great insight on how having so much constant
contact and technology overload affects us. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t52GrSUjVLg)
